Eragon : Dragon vs Fighter Plane

We went to see Eragon today, and I started to think about this crazy idea...

What is the difference between "Dragon Rider" and "Fighter Pilot"? Movie shots of the Eragon riding the dragon looked exactly like "F18 Ride" on YouTube. I am still not sure about how many G's can the dragon make, but I can assure you Eragon was not wearing the G Suit... but we spotted him wearing jeans in first couple of scenes (he-he).

Dragon can breath the fire and plane can fire people with rockets, Dragon can throw things and plane can drop bombs. In Eragon dragon even had shields and our planes have some sort of armor.

In Eragon rider had a vision of the dragon and could literally zoom in on objects and see them in infra-red... well pilots can always use "plane vision", I am taken it for granted that zoom and infra red is provided on some models. Some pilots -planes can even use BVR Rockets (Beyond visible range), I guess Dragons do not have anything to compete there.

Another similiarity: rider can live if the dragon dies and dragon will die if the dragon rider dies. If plane is hit, pilot can always Eject and has Chances to live. If pilot is hit, plane does not have any chances...

So you may say: "How is it related to games"... well my idea was to make a dress up game with dragon parts and some Air Force ornaments. I wonder how would people like to create dragon and attach some "Magic" missles to the wings :)??? Wonder who would love the idea more guys or girls....

Here is one of the videos that I really loved some time ago.... Magic Carpet Ride of F18:

Another wondeful Christmas Dress Up Game

I loved this Elf game. I think I first saw this idea 5 years ago with The Doll Palace "Photo Doll". The page allowed you to upload the photo and create the doll with your own face. Elf Yourself is so much cooler. You can create dancing elf with your own face.

I guess OfficeMax people know what are they doing if ElfYoursef is #1 on Alex's Movers and Shakers.

Teaching Girls Imagination

Parents and teachers agree that imagination is sorely lacking in many of our children today. While there are several reasons for this, including too many games and programs that don’t sufficiently challenge the mind, there are simple ways to prevent this deficiency in your own daughter.

Early Imagination
When children are young, they seem to have boundless energy, enthusiasm and curiosity about life. This lust for living can be encouraged or stifled. While nobody would deliberately smother the creativity within a child, but avoiding questions, not playing make-believe games, and pushing children toward electric babysitters, causes exactly that.

Of course, many books, movies, and programs for children depict young people full of spunk and creativity, but it is far better for a child to find his own creativity than watch someone else’s. How to do this seems to be the main point some adults are missing. The solution is really quite simple.

Girls and Imagination
Girls and boys are fundamentally different. One gender is not better or even more creative than the other, but girls are perhaps more often misunderstood. Reckless curiosity in boys is welcomed, but sometimes discouraged in girls. This practice seems to be fading over time, which is definitely welcome, but there are specific ways to help girls rediscover or encourage the use of their imagination.

Teaching Imagination
Teaching imagination is much like teaching common sense. There is not a simple lesson or mantra to be memorized. It is something children must try and experiment with to fully understand.

    Encourage Exploration
No matter a child’s age, encourage the child to find the answers they seek. The internet is a wonderful resource as are books and even the world around them. If it is a question you can answer, do so – even if you are in the middle of reading the paper or making dinner.

    Seek Out Opportunities
Seek out chances to learn a new skill or think outside of the box. Rather than simply playing with a doll or having a tea party, find a paper doll website, like TheDollPalace.com to create virtual paper dolls. Assign the dolls personalities, and have them as guests at future tea parties or as characters in made up stories.

    Play With Children
As obvious as it may seem, play with a child, and you can lead by example. Turn a box into a treasure chest or jump on the bed to escape the alligators on the floor. By the same token, with older children, find websites or games to play together. Again, online paper dolls from TheDollPalace.com might be the perfect solution. Take turns making dolls and creating backgrounds for each.

Not only will the additional time spent with children be rewarding for them, it will also be rewarding for you. Children have a way of shining a spotlight on what is most important in a situation or life in general. By encouraging the creative play of your girls, you will be opening an entire world to them. Help them find it and explore it together.

I think this game is really fun to play with. It has lots of choices such as turkeys, pies, fruits and thanksgiving outfits. Doll Palace called it "Thanksgiving Crafts".

Are Girl Games Okay?

Girls are no longer required to be demure and quiet. In fact, girls are encouraged to break away from stereotypes of old. The feminist movement of the seventies ensured that all little girls have an opportunity to break free of tea parties and dolls, but a great debate still rages. Despite efforts to move these youngsters away from these stereotypical pursuits, princess costumes and tea party sets are still major sellers. Are these girl games okay?

Parents of this day and age work hard to raise their children without stereotypes and gender roles. Especially sensitive parents might buy their young son a baby doll and offer their daughter a fire truck. They are a bit confused, and perhaps slightly relieved, when the kids switch presents and go merrily on their way. If parents are trying so hard to move their daughters away from dolls and dress up games, why do the girls resist so strongly?

Girl Games
The games that are under so much fire from critics involve traditional, ultra feminine aspects including dressing up, playing with dolls, and play kitchens. Some purport that forcing a little girl to play with baby dolls and kitchen sets will relegate her to a life of uneducated motherhood and domesticity, which is surely not the message we are trying to send. The main problem in this argument, of course, is that it fails to take into consideration what the little girls want.

Believe it or not, in many situations, these girls choose to play these games. Entire aisles of toy stores are full of dolls, doll accessories, doll clothing, and much more. These girls are not being forced to play dress up games; they are electing to do so. Of course, they have other toys and games to play, but for many, the call of fashion or nurturing is just too strong. According to many researchers, and even more parents, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this.

Online Girl Games
The most logical trajectory for these young women who enjoy dolls and fashions is to move the games online. Entire websites, such as TheDollPalace.com have been designed for these specific types of games. Bases, much like Barbie dolls, are created and available for the girls to dress. There are endless amounts of fashion items and accessories to build dolls with, and many of these sites offer forums and chats for the doll lovers to interact.

The bottom line, of course, is that you can force a toy on a child, be it a doll or a football, but there is no way to make that child enjoy it or even play with it. If a daughter enjoys having tea parties and dressing up like a princess, there is absolutely no reason to fear for her independence as an adult. In fact, many grown women still enjoy playing with dolls, and spend time on dolling websites, such as TheDollPalace.com as well. Girl games became immensely popular and remain so for good reason. They are fun, and if encouraged and accepted, can be an excellent outlet for creativity and imagination.

Big Zzzz in Dress-up-games

What's up with that big Z????

Zwinky.com , Zodler.com , dollzmania.com , Dollz ... why "Z"??

What "Z" has to do with with our dress up games and dollmaker and overall Internet games? Does it ("Z") come from "Buzz" or some other cute word? Was always wondering why so many people and webmasters (some may count webmasters as people ;) ) like "Z"....

Theory 1: Easy to spell..
In reality Z is very easy to spell and kinda easy to remember, people will probably not mix it with other letters, however it could still be confused and/or forgotten in situations like "Easy" and "EZ"

Theory 2: attracts Teens
Dressup games and games overall are made for teens, and for some reason I think letter "Z" attracts them.

Theory 3: Comes from Buzz
I think Buzz has some magic, and people simply thought it would be cool to use Zees in that form

Games Girls Play

While it may seem stereotypical, most girls enjoy many of the same styles of games. This is not to say these games are exclusive to females, or that these young women might not enjoy the same pursuits as boys. In general, however, it does seem that scores of girls flock to the same activities time and time again for very specific reasons.

Fantasy
Girls as young as toddlers love to act out fantasy lives and roles. Baby dolls and dress up clothes transform these girls to make-believe mothers and princesses in a split second. These games do not end with the school years. Young girls, and even young women, continue to enjoy creating fantasy characters and lives for recreation. Electronic “pets” and online personas take the place of the earlier dolls, but some versions of dolls continue to live on.

While Barbie might be blasé, girls in their teens still regularly discuss other forms of dolls. Online paper dolls found on websites such as TheDollPalace.com offer these young ladies an opportunity to create fantastical creations in whatever style they desire. These games go far beyond a slightly complex coloring book. The dolls take on lives of their own, guided by these same girls who had tea parties with water in the teapot and imaginary cookies.

Multidimensional
Many of the more traditional games have a single dimension. You become a player or character and move through a predetermined number of spaces or levels. Girls might enjoy these games, but they revel in opportunities to move beyond the basics. By incorporating relationships, choices, and strategy in a game, girls are much more involved and gain much more.

For many girls, it is not about winning or even advancing. The storylines and relationships between characters can be enough to keep them coming back for more. In many games appealing to girls, both online and off, characters are developed with stories and personalities of their own. Rarely is a game marketed to young women with faceless entities racking up points in one way or another.

Friendly
Girls like competition, but most prefer it to be friendly. For most females, regardless of age, the relationship is more crucial than the victory. If two girls are engaged in a contest online, they are more likely to praise the other’s creation or efforts than tear anyone down. This is especially true when a young lady exposes herself to opinions by sharing some of her own work or thoughts.

For example, doll websites, such as TheDollPalace.com, offer competitions and contests between girls to create certain styles of dolls or even stories about their creations. Rather than criticize or insult the competing stories, most girls offer praise or positive comments. There are rarely sore losers, either.

While not all girl games remain friendly, the vast majority of girls enjoy games without the rougher elements of more traditional competition. Overall, girls may enjoy the same activities as their male counterparts, but it will usually be for different reasons. Girls play games for fun, of course. To be fun, however, these games must appeal to girls on many different levels.

Corporate office game - wank word bingo

Well, this is not exactly the dress up game, but I loved the idea.

Original version of the game is "Wank Word Bingo", however I would call it Corporate Meeting Lingo-Bingo. The idea is to catch 5 words from the meeting and scream "BINGO!!!"

You can find words and cards here
Word Bingo
or here
Word Bingo

The game also promises that you will never fall asleep during the metting and you will enjoy corporate mettings much better.

Creating Avatars

Chat is all the rage these days, and the best way to keep in touch with friends, and maybe even family, is to use internet messengers like AIM or Yahoo. By using messengers or chat, you don’t have to break your phone curfew, but you can still talk to your friends. Other places that are fun to visit are forums, discussion boards, and communal sites like MySpace. The greatest thing about these sites is the opportunity to personalize your screen name by using avatars. Avatars are those little pictures that pop up by your name when you type or post.

As your avatar is your self portrait in a sense, it should reflect who you really are – trendy, stylish, and beautiful. If you are anything like most of the girls in the world today, you probably change your mind about five times a day on what would truly reflect you, but there is a perfect solution for that – use online paper dolls. Use these online paper dolls, such as the ones you find at The Doll Palace, as avatars, and you will have endless style and image opportunities available. That way, you can change your online image as often as you change your virtual hairstyle.

Getting Started
To begin, you would simply need to create an account at the Doll Palace, which is free, and have a blast dressing up all of the dolls in the latest styles and costumes. The folks at the Doll Palace seem to add new outfits and dolls on an almost weekly basis, so there is always something new to try out.

Saving you Avatar
Once you have your doll completed, whether you are punk or princess for the day, simply save her, and you will have the option to create an icon, or avatar, for any of the popular messengers or forums. If you need your best friend’s approval before committing to an avatar, you can also email you doll to her so she can check it out and give you compliments or suggestions.

Creating the Avatar
Once the image is saved, and emailed as the case may be, to create the actual Avatar, you select “Create Free Icon,” and go to town. A sizing box will appear that will allow you to frame your doll in the middle of a window, then save it again. Now the doll will be downloaded to your computer so that you can upload it into your messenger or forum.

Using the Avatar
There are no limits on the number of avatars you can create, so you can have one for every day of the week or every single one of you online boyfriends. Try on new hairstyles and outfits, then show how fashion-forward you are to everyone you talk to online. You are one totally stylish chick, and it’s about time the whole world, or at least your buddy list, knew about it.

Understanding Dress Up Games

Some parents are concerned about their daughter’s safety online. They wonder as she sits down at the computer for hours on end just what is so appealing. Could she be chatting with the dreaded internet predators? Is she seeing too much violence or nudity? Many are relieved when they discover that their daughter is only spending countless hours in front of the monitor playing dress-up games.

What are Dress up Games?
Little girls have always loved playing dress up. Raiding Mom’s closet and pulling on dresses and high heels twice as big as a little girl is a staple of growing up. These games get a bit more broad as little girls begin playing with paper dolls and dressing her own dolls. Finally, as these young ladies begin to discover all that the internet has to offer, they stumble upon doll websites, such as TheDollPalace.com.

Doll Websites
Doll websites offer girls, or any other visitor, an opportunity to design and dress their own dolls. The sites provide bases, which resemble a traditional, undressed doll, and almost endless articles of clothing and accessories. Using the doll maker programs that many of these sites offer, the girls build personalized dolls or can “play” with dolls designed by experts. They design outfits, dress the dolls, and create lives and backgrounds for their creations.

New dolls are constantly released, so that there is always something new to try at these sites. TheDollPalace.com, for example, offers visitors an opportunity to play dress up games with dolls of every holiday and season as well as unique clothing styles such as Goth or Punk. It’s not hard to understand the appeal of these sites to girls who enjoy playing with outfits and creating new looks – especially when few other outlets offer these particular styles.

Doll Culture
These websites also offer contests, forums, and relevant articles to create an entire doll culture for visitors. Those who enjoy dress up games can visit within a community of others. They can design dolls, write stories and give personality to the dolls, and then share their work with others.

The dolls are used not only for pure entertainment, but also as avatars and signatures for online chats and forums. The doll websites often recognize they are targeting adolescents, so they attempt to offer contests, such as writing fairy tales or designing pumpkins that would appeal to this demographic.

The Future of Dress Up Games
Like all gaming on the internet, there is no end in sight for dress up games. The games are pure, wholesome fun with no negative connotations, and endless amounts of enjoyment for patrons. As more girls become involved in online dress up games, the industry will respond with more designs and more games.

Parents are relieved to have their daughters engaged in appropriate online activities, although forums and chats should always be monitored. Children have a blast designing new looks or giving existing dolls names and personalities. Dress up games are a good fit for everyone.

Make-Believe Games

Imagination is healthy. Unfortunately, many toys and games these days actually stifle the imagination. If there is any indication of the future success of children, it is the amount of imaginative, or make-believe play they engage in on a daily basis. Many parents overlook this critical factor and begin to push learning games or toys with built-in story lines.

From Real-Life to Virtual
Young children almost always begin to play using their imaginations. Toy kitchens and doll houses help little kids act like the grown-ups they admire. Of course, the minute the children discover the wonders of the internet, much of this imaginative play begins to fade, but it doesn’t have to.

There are opportunities online for make-believe games. Although many games children play via the internet involve predetermined actions and plot sequences, this is not the case for all. Some games utilize the imagination more than even traditional toys. Online dolls offer young girls a chance to stretch not only their fashion sense but their imagination as well.

Playing Make-Believe Games
It may seem simple to the casual observer. Stick some clothes on a doll and you have a finished creation. But it is much more than that to the regulars. Every aspect of online play has great significance. Choosing the right base is the first step – is the doll going to represent the doll maker, or is she trying her hand at something new? Then clothing is selected based on what that doll is going to be doing or represent.

Young girls with rich imaginations love playing dress up games with these dolls. The dolls can lead wild fantasy lives or do literally anything the doll maker wishes. Young girls can try on imaginary personalities or styles, or create avatars and characters to be used for any number of games and contests.

Many doll creation sites, like TheDollPalace.com, offer more than simple doll creation software. They give girls a chance to find others interested in the same sort of make-believe games and imaginary worlds. TheDollPalace.com offers forums and opportunities to share stories about dolls. Not only are the girls creating these complex dolls, they are writing histories and stories for their characters as well.

The Benefits of Make-Believe Games
If it is not already obvious, make-believe games, such as these online dolls, give children an opportunity to flex their creative muscle. Creativity and imagination are some of the most wonderful gifts of childhood and often they are stomped out by excessive school work or games that trap players in certain characters or roles. Those that enjoy these dolls should be encouraged to continue playing, and parents interested in developing or fostering these skills in their own children should seek out make-believe games.

Of course the best way to interact with your child as well as encourage the use of the imagination is to sit down routinely with your daughter and ask about her dolls. Do they have a history or is there something special about each one? Parents will be amazed at the lengths doll makers will go to build a complete fantasy life around a simple online paper doll. Imagination is truly a wonder to behold.

Dolls are Games, Too!

The online gaming industry is full of battles, blood, brain teasers, and adventure, but a certain demographic of online games exists which is often not thought of in the same light. While forming guilds and defining battle strategy is certainly entertaining, others enjoy a more fashionable internet existence Dress up games, such as online paper dolls, are a lesser-known, but hugely popular online form of gaming as well.

Dress Up Games
Paper dolls have been popular for centuries. With the advent of the internet, a game which once required scissors and the patience to carefully cut out little outfits and figures, moved online. The first online paper dolls were used almost exclusively for avatars, but over time, these dolls have formed a significant industry with seemingly endless purposes.

Modern online paper dolls, or simply dolls, include a base, or innocently unclothed figure, with unlimited clothing, hair, and accessories to add. Many online doll websites contain prefabricated dolls to enjoy as well as complete doll makers. These doll makers contain a build area where all aspects such as base, clothing, accessories, and even background can be collected and pieced together. When the doll is complete, it may be saved for additional use, or the build area can be emptied and a new doll created.

Young women enjoy the opportunity to be fashion forward and build dolls using certain styles of dress and the latest clothing fashions and hair styles. Many websites offering these kids’ games, such as TheDollPalace.com, unveil new doll makers on a regular basis so that the fan base always has a fresh source of entertainment. Many of the doll makers include current fashion trends and range from casual to seasonal to even formal styles.

How to Play Doll Games
Playing with dolls has many facets. While it is certainly entertaining to view dolls of celebrities or completed dolls showcasing certain styles, it is also fun to play with one’s own dolls and create characters. These characters can be saved onto a computer for use as avatars, desktops, screensavers, or even as logos. Of course, this is not the extent of the dress up games.

Creating online dolls has become so popular that many websites catering to these individuals offer contests, challenges, and other fun activities. TheDollPalace.com also contains popular forums and articles with regular comments by members on various fashion related topics or other areas of interest. The dress up game community is growing by leaps and bounds, and is demanding more outlets for their creativity. These demands are routinely met by websites specializing in this form of entertainment.

Many who enjoy the doll games have begun to create their own bases and fashions in addition to working with those already created. Online dolls might not appear to be in the same category as many of the other popular online games, but deserve their rightful place. The time, energy, and creativity invested in the backgrounds, appearance, and uses of these dolls make other seemingly intensive games pale by comparison. Online dolls are more than a game, they represent a life-style.
